France has officially unveiled its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The country will be represented in Vienna by Monroe with the song “Regarde!”, which was released on 6 March following the announcement of the singer as France’s representative.
At just 17 years old, Monroe becomes one of the youngest artists to represent France at Eurovision in recent years. The young singer rose to national prominence after winning the French television talent show “Prodiges”, where she impressed audiences with her powerful operatic voice.
The song was written and composed by Fred Savio, Fredie Marche and Violin Phonix.
The Song: “Regarde!”
“Regarde!” (translated as “Look!”) is a dramatic French-language entry that combines lyrical vocal elements with contemporary orchestral pop production. The song has been described as a powerful anthem about love and emotional intensity, highlighting Monroe’s classical vocal abilities.
With its cinematic atmosphere and strong vocal moments, the song stands out from many recent French entries by leaning more heavily into operatic and theatrical influences. Early reactions from Eurovision fans online suggest that the entry has already sparked discussion and curiosity ahead of the contest.
Who Is Monroe?
Monroe is a young lyrical soprano who gained widespread recognition after winning the 11th season of “Prodiges”, a French television competition dedicated to classical music talents.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to a French mother and an American father, Monroe grew up surrounded by music and began studying singing and piano at the age of seven. She also performed in her church choir during her childhood.
Following her television success, she released her debut album featuring interpretations of classical and operatic repertoire and is preparing a concert tour across France this spring.
France at Eurovision
France is one of the founding countries of the Eurovision Song Contest, having participated since the very first edition in 1956. The country has won the competition five times, most recently in 1977 with Marie Myriam’s “L’oiseau et l’enfant.”
In recent years, France has returned to strong results at Eurovision. Barbara Pravi finished second in 2021 with “Voilà,”while Slimane and Louane also achieved Top 10 placements for the country in the 2020s.
With Monroe and “Regarde!”, France hopes to continue this positive momentum and possibly bring the Eurovision trophy back to the country for the first time in nearly five decades.
As one of the “Big Five” countries, France automatically qualifies for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2026, which will take place on 16 May in Vienna, Austria. Monroe will also perform her entry during one of the semi-finals as part of the traditional Big Five preview performances.
